Indulgence Passages

I have decided tonight to open on a topic of general interest to most of you - indulgence air passages to the United Kingdom.  First of all a brief word on the regulations governing indulgence passages which some of you are may not fully understand
To proceed on an indulgence passage proof must be presented that you have sufficient funds to meet the cost of a return Air Passage in the event of your not being able to obtain an indulgence seat
Normally civil aircraft operate over the same routes as Transport Command and in these circumstances you would be required to make your own arrangements to return.  As far as Gan is concerned, however, no such commercial services exist and so the R.A.F. are obliged to get you back on a priority basis if no spare seats are available for indulgence passengers.  What happens is this.  The movements Department in the Air Ministry try to allocate an indulgence passage to you.  If however, they have a back-log of priority passengers proceeding on duty and no indulgence seats are available it is obvious that arrangements must be made to get you back on duty.. Your indulgence id therefore upgraded to a priority and this will mean off-loading either a duty passenger of lower priority or taking-off freight being uplifted on a priority basis.  Having done that you are then liable for payment for your seat to the tune of something like 150.
